The blow moulding process begins with melting down the plastic and forming it into a preform. The preform is a tube-like piece of plastic with a hole in one end in which compressed air can pass through.

Injection molding (British variant spelling: moulding) is a manufacturing technique for making parts from both thermoplastic and thermosetting plastic materials in production. Molten plastic is injected at high pressure into a mold (British variant spelling: mould), which is the inverse of the product's shape.
